best $1000-2000 CD player?

Time to change my CD player. Need your recommendations, gentlemen.

I have some old EAD 1000 CD player (with Nordost Blue Heaven interconnects) for a couple of years. I guess it was pretty good for it's time but it colours the sound quite a lot. So I'm thinking about change. I'd love to get some natural (as much as it's possible for CD) and musical sound for a reasonable price of $1000-2000. I know that I have to change a CD player as vinyl (Clearaudio Solution, Audio note IQ-2 cartridge) plays the same records just fine on the same amp (Natural, russian tube amp) and speakers (totally upgraded Acoustic Research S50 with Nordost Solar Wind cables). I know, of course, that CD can't sound as good as vinyl, but at least I'd like to get some solid listenable sound. Unfortunately, the only possible colour of the player that I can buy is black. I heard that Audiomeca has some cool stuff under $2000.
Any other ideas?

In that price range, I'm a big fan of the California Audio Labs CL-15. It's a very warm and rich cd player with lots of detail and texture. I'd highly recommend it.

For a completely neutral sound I know Steve recommends his Sony SACD 777 and it's in the price range if you're fortunate enough to find one. Last years model I believe.

I've heard good things about Arcam.... interesting, Norm!

Yeah, but Arcam never do BLACK colour players and that's the only colour I can get!

The FMJ series is available in silver or black finish.
