I think I keep plugging this artist, every chance I get but.... here we go again!

Had a friend over for the weekend. Played him Songs From The Wood - just the title track - MFSL. He was realy impressed!

Then I played him the Songs From The Wood - DCC - from Original Masters. Had to pick up poor old Eric off the floor :D . Thank goodness I was on a CPR course recently. It was sooooo good!!!

I only have a CDR of MFSL's Thick as a Brick. Was not impressed - on the other hand I heard the DCC version first!

I really really really hope Steve gets to do the SACD versions after the remasters are all released.

I agree that this is one of the most abused catalogs in all of rock

music and it would be great to have Steve set it right.

Yes I have to agree, HI GARY, when Gary was over at my place, 2 weeks ago, I was totally blown away by Steves versions of Tull. They really blew away the MFSL versions by a mile.;)

I'v sorta reviving this thread as I think we may have an opportunity here...

The Tull remasters are well on their way to completion. But they forgot one! There is a live album called "Bursting Out" that has not been redone. Looks like it got lost in the mists of time or something.

I actually found a CD of this recently. Has the original line up - a good period piece!

I wonder if there is an opportunity for S&P to do a hybrid SACD of this?

Just thought I'd bring this up again, Steve! Thanks.....

How about a nice live show from around '71. Both box sets has some material released but JT never put out a complete early show.

Sounds great to me, Tommy! :)

Maybe we should expand our requests for live albums from classic artists. I don't mean "classic rock" artists and-thats-it, but include Soul, Funk, Progressive rock, etc.

Start with Tull. ;)

Nevermind about Bursting out. I saw in another thread that it has indeed been released as a 2 CD set. :(

Oh well.....

Hey Gary!
Could you elaborate on the 2-CD release of Burstin' Out? I have the single CD issue, and many years ago- I saw more than once- the impoted version on 2 CD's, but couldn't justify its more than double the price!

I never see it any more- but often think about it.

No, ReidC, I can't. I've never even seen a 2 Cd set - just heard about it! But it is supposed to be remastered and "out there somewhere". Wonder if it's true?

Sorry.

Bursting Out was released as a double album originally. It was re-released as a 2CD set in the UK and a truncated single CD in the US (omitting Conundrum and Quatrain, as mentioned on the back of the US CD)
This album always sounded a little odd to me - it needed to be turned well up to sound good, and the drums, as with so much Tull, were then a problem as they were not recorded terribly well. Still, it's worth picking up the double CD. It really needs a remix to bring it to what I would hope it could sound like, or a good remaster ;)

I saw a "Burstin Out" 2-cd set Friday( I think!) at Newbury Comics in Cambridge MA(Alewife on Rt 2). It had a recent date on the label(all their bar codes have in dates on them). I also looked at the package, and thought I saw a 2002 date on the artwork. I can't remember which- but one of the labels said Burstin Out +3, which leads me to believe it was a new re-master, as many of the new Tull's are +3(bonus) as well.

It was somewhere near $28-$30 if I remember. Maybe I shoulda grabbed it.

No, it hasn't been remastered, just reissued. Maybe the "+3" refers to the three tracks that were left off the single-CD version?

A correction on my previous post - the other missing track is Sweet Dream (as well as Conundrum and Quatrain) making up the +3 tracks missing from the single CD

They also edited out an *enormous* amount of dialogue.

I wasn't smart enough to pick up the double CD when it was still available.

Now I just spin the vinyl...ain't nothing wrong with that!
