I find it rewarding how we all can get such pleasure in our love for Steve's work. I, speaking for myself, relish the fact that not only do we get enjoyment out of the listening experience but also have the opportunity to ask questions, educate each other and just plain have FUN!.What I find truly amazing is how an 1984+ Steve CD (re)mastering can still be the absolute best out there. Now that's a legacy!

I couldn't agree more. This is a great forum. Cheers to those who have made it happen!

Holy Zoo,

I guess the only that bugs me is the fact that I can't tell whether you're applauding Steve's work or your own.:p :D

Ha! LOL. Well, I was applauding Michael's post, which has everything to do with Steve, and nothing to do with me. But I especially liked Michael's last sentence. :)

Ok.. I've edited my post to point out the part I'm applauding... :p :D

Me too. We are led to believe that the technology is getting better and therefore the music will sound better and therefore we should buy the same music again. But Steve kinda blows that thoery to hell. I am surprised the big record companies have allowed him to live this long. :D

I was laughing so hard at that cheerleader! Great image. But I'm now confused (wait... scratch that, I have always been confused)-- is AG a blonde or brunette?

I hate to bring this party down, but the things that I find that I find really disturbing about this same idea are:

•Some of the things that Steve has done will never get better treatment again-- ever, regardless of format.

•For whatever money or business reasons, there are only so many things he will be able to do. As they say, so many choices, so little time...

Of course, I'm not advocating chaining him to some studio wall...

I'm reminded of a chilling tale I once heard about the introduction of automatic teller machines. A banking executive reported to his colleagues that "Some of our [presumably older] customers don't like using the new ATM machines", to which another executive replied, "Yes, but one day they'll all be dead."

Here's hoping that beauty is easier to perpetuate than inconvenience.

I have found that in some cases as the technology gets better some CDs sound worse. Bill Inglot comes to mind. The only CDs that can't sound any better are the ones Steve has remastered. I have learned so much from everybody on the forum. Applause all around to Steve...

"If it's Hoffmanized... it's got to sound good!"

And Holy Zoo... a much deserved thank you goes to you!!!!!

Great idea! But why not go one step further (and maybe even happier...): I would make sure being chained right in the middle of the stereo triangle!!!

Who would you rather hire for the job? Someone with a degree in reading manuals wearing a lab coat (someone who lets the equipment use them not vise versa), or someone who once was a kid on the floor with his ear to the speaker, soaking in music and feeling that 'breath of life'?
