Steve- Would you ever consider transferring from a master that is digital? The title that I am thinking of is SRV- The Sky Is Crying. Also, on an analog note, any interest in Stevie Wonder- Innervisions. So far Ive found the MOFI gold disc to be king here, sounding very Wadia WA 4000ish (a good thing) but vinyl would be my first choice here (a better thing).

Thanks
John

Sure. I think Eva Cassidy is digital. It will sound great on LP.

Steve... okay you have not fear using a digital mastertape.

Would you ever consider a 1st generation copy (analog or digital) of a mastertape, when you are sure you CAN improve the sound???

I think... if the mastertape is lost or damaged, it's the best way...

Of course.

I mean, think about it. That is what Stevie Wonder "Innervisions" is, or parts of "Sgt Pepper" or any other album that has two songs segued together. The "master" is just a tape copy of two mixes that are first generation. No big deal.

John,

Not tryin' to be a jerk here but if you check your SRV: The Sky Is Cryin' you'll notice that it is from an analog source.;)

Hi Dave- I dont think you are a jerk for thinking that SRV may be from an analog source, cause some of the multi's did originate that way. However, most of the multi's are digital, 48 track I think. Some of the multi's are analog mixed to digital, which is a shame. Little wing would have been amazing had it never left analog. MOFI would have you believe that the AAD symbol on the back of their CD is correct, but it aint. Take a look at the Bob Ludwig original done at Masterdisc in 1991. It says "DDD" and "ADD". The back of the CD lists tracks 3, 4, 5, 7 as ADD, the balance being DDD. Once you listen to one versus the other there's no question. The DDD tracks just lack that see thru transparancy and presence of the ADD tracks. Youll see....
