Alan Parsons (the original engineer) takes you through the multi track tapes giving a unique insight into the musical fabric of the record and the program is illustrated throughout with archive footage.

THAT should be interesting, considering the whole Parsons/Guthrie thing.

This series is done very well - it's fascinating to see them reviewing each song at the mixing board with the session tapes - isolating individual tracks to make points about the performances, players etc. DSOTM is a great addition to it!

I was lucky to find a lot of those Isis Prod/Eagle Vision DVD's for $11.99. Sounds pricy for 76 min worth of material, but to see how albums like Rumours, Songs In The Key Of Life, Anthem Of The Sun, Who's Next, Electric Ladyland were done, is well worth the admission price once you watch it.

Guaranteed, it will give you a much more artistic and mechanical understanding of how the album came together.

It doesn't ignore the band's history either...just goes to it briefly, then to the studio...and the artists and engineers take apart the album.

Seeing Glyn Johns take apart "Going Mobile" to show what a brilliant drummer Keith Moon was perfectly exemplified the Who's raw power.

Really...buy as many as you seem remotely interested in!

The one on U2's Joshua Tree album is great as well,especially the bit where you find out Brian Eno had setup an "Accident" to erase "Where the Streets Have No Name",as it was taking up too much time trying to get it right.

Aja is fantastic, a must see for any Steely Dan fan. It's very entertaining to watch Becker and Fagen break down the songs on the album (except for I got the news).

I can't wait for the DSOTM documentary!

What I loved about the Aja rocumentary, was the bit when they were dissecting Peg, and Michael McDonald's vocals just sounded so AMAZING! Plus all of those amazing guitar licks, and Chuck Rainey's bass parts, and...

I believe deepdiscountdvd.com has the best on-line price. DVD-Planet lists it as "low stock" and Amazon says they are temporarily out of stock.

The Stevie Wonder "Songs in the Key of Life" entry in the series is pretty great, too.

I love this series too. I must have 10 of them on DVD ... Aja, Elvis Presley, The Band, Face Value, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, The Joshua Tree, Electric Ladyland, Who's Next, Graceland (a very nice one!), Songs in the Key of Life, Rumours ... I like them all; they're quite well done. Aja and The Band might be my favorites overall.

Thanks for the tip on the Floyd! I see they have Nirvana's Nevermind on the list too ...

Awesome series! Love the Who's Next, U2, Yellow Brick Road. Can't wait for Dark Side and Nevermind!!!! My Best Buy sucks though, may have to resort to Amazon.

The Dark Side of the Moon, I could imagine might have some neat stuff considering there was at least some filming for the Pompei movie durring the sessions.
