Recently got this one and not near as warm as the MO-FI version this one has a lot of punch and is more detailed.Drums and particularly the bass are more distinct.I like it. Does this one differ from the standard remaster? Any comments? Also,Layla would make an excellent reissue on 180 gram vinyl. Steve,it's good to see you're back to doing what you do best.

Simply Vinyl did a decent job, although not perfect, to Layla (180g). What you should have is a Apogee UV-22 reissue of the album (like the USA), lots of weird EQ going on. The MFSL sounds warm and sometimes dark, but supposedly, that's what it sounded like.

I have the Simply Vinyl reissue, but it doesn't do anything for me.It must have been digital. Layla is in sore need of a definitive analog remastering. So much soul. Thanks.

Layla was released by Direct Disc Labs in the eighties. I have numerious LP versions and it is by far still the best. As far as CD versions go I favor the MFSL. I have the new Japanese issue but have not yet found time to listen to it.

That UV-22 cd is an atrocity. No front-to-back depth, shrill, hard, dry bass, quantization "fuzz" at all frequencies, more fun to place a bag of potato chips on either side of your head and crush them slowly.
I gave this disc to somebody who'd never heard it and apologised when I did it. I should have just thrown it away and dubbed him the MoFi on a cd-r.
