My beloved Tascam 122 has finally bit the dust. I have lots of tapes of original music recorded on high speed.
Does anyone think I should spend the coin to get this deck repaired?:)

I would repair it if I couldn't find an acceptable replacement. Most repair shops charge a minimum fee for just looking at the unit, but it is worth it to find out for the sake of your original music.

What's wrong with it? Might it just need a belt?
If you used Dolby, remember it may be hard to get a different machine to track it properly. (That may also be true, though, if the audio electronics need repaired.)
Good luck.

I hope that is all that is wrong.

Betcha it's the main belt, but to repair this unit might be pricy. Nice deck though!

Yeah, there is an authorised repair shop in Watertown MA. I called them, and they said there is a $20.00 fee to trouble shoot the unit. I might go for it.

I'd do it. I worked with one just like it in broadcasting. Not many are like that. :(
