1) Are you guys happy with this unit?

2) Would you recommend it to others?

3) Is there a different player you feel you should have purchased instead?

Thanks to you all in advance!

I bought one and was very pleased with it until it started recognizing SACDs only about half the time. Not to scare anyone off from it, mine was the only unit returned to Denon with this problem. There are pages of reported problems on the AVS and Home Theater forums dealing with bass management ignorance and some variation of the chroma bug, but no one else reported their players not recognizing discs.

I still don't have the replacement since I was getting dicked around by my dealer for about a month. I finally got ahold of the bigwigs at Denon last week, and they were very eager to help me get a replacement directly from the factory -- it should be here any day now.

After having the Pioneer DV-45A, I was expecting a little more for paying twice as much, but I didn't have mine long enough for it to fully break in. Don't get me wrong - it is a better machine, but I could have been happy as well had I kept the Pioneer.

I would recommend it to others in the market for a universal player with their main focus on audio, but I also wouldn't hesitate to recommend the DV-45A under the right circumstances either.

Interesting. I see DEnon makes a unit that is 3 times the price of the 2900. What's up with that one?? 3K for a DVD player!
