I just had to jump in as your newest member to say that I hit a jackpot (well, to me anyway) at the local Borders where I occasionally browse. I passed up a copy of Ella Fitzgerald sings the Cole Porter Songbook well over a year ago, and have since been kicking myself. Anyhow, for some reason today, I happened to glance at the top of one of their cassette displays and noticed the Ella set looking back at me!! If it weren't up there, some other lucky soul would have bought it long ago.
Well, I'm excited because I borrowed the Volume II disc of this set from the local library in'93 and was instantly hooked. My wife and I actually had "You Do Something To Me" as our wedding song in '94. Popping the DCC version in today (Valentines day no less) and hearing the tune in all its glory just brought back so many great memories. I wish Ella were still with us, because I'd like to personally tell her much her music means to me. I would like to thank you Steve for taking the great care you do when mastering these great artists works. And ain't it my luck that you mastered this particular one and not the umpteen other songbooks or albums she did? Well, if you do them all, I guess I wouldn't complain a bit!
By the way, I finally got off the fence and decided to join the forum here. I've been learning a lot from all of you. Actually, I've been browsing the DCC boards since the days of the fully expanded message threads (ugh..). But such great content - were those ever archived? Boy, I hope so. Thank goodness for these great BBS systems, eh?
