I wonder if Sony has any interest in releasing it on SACD. They have numerous soundtracks released on SACD. The question is would there be a problem liscensing all the songs from other labels would they let them use the original masters, at least for the songs where the original masters still exist.

Pretty much impossible....:(
How is the recent remaster of this soundtrack, anyway? I wasn't too thrilled with the sound of the original release.

Well, Sony has already released 3 similar Soundtrack albums by Various Artists on SACD: Top Gun, Footloose and Music from the Sopranos.
I would imagine it would take some time, and effort, to get the many artist clearances needed for compilation albums like these. So Forrest Gump may be off in the distance.
In the meantime, I'd recommend the Sopranos SACD 2 disc set. A wide variety of musical styles, but the sonics are very good on several of the tracks on this set.

It would make an awesome SACD !!! in fact the 2 best tracks in the top gun sound tracks are the 2 oldies: sitting by the dock of the bay + great ball of fire.
Let's have hopes...
PS: When are the Steve Hoffman's oldies coming out ?
