Everyone has there favorite love songs that they still enjoy, even if they didn't stick with the one they first thought of when they heard it. I want to hear yours, kind of a mix tape.
"Wonderful Tonight" Eric Clapton - I was at a party with a girlfriend, for her school at a hotel and I'd done well for the first half hour working the room alone. This song came on as I was being grilled by her contract law teacher (lawyers!), she came from across the room to save me and took me on the dance floor in front of all her friends. That song was the blueprint of that evening.

"Willing to Wait" by Sebadoh. If you don't know it, check it out ... It's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
I sang it (solo with electric guitar) to my wife at our wedding.

I'd have to go with either "At Last" or "Moonlight Seranade" or the theme song of the TV show "The Banana Splits"...
At the moment, I'd say "Crazy" by Patsy Cline and "Something" by the Beatles.

"There Is No Greater Love" as sung by Nat "King" Cole (a bonus track on the DCC Gold CD of "The Very Thought Of You").
It was played as Karla and I walked down the aisle at our wedding.
Can't get more romantic than that!;)
One that always sort of makes me feel kinda squishy inside is "Just Between You And Me" by April Wine.
My second choice would be Aldo Nova's "Ball And Chain".

Hey guys,
Favorite love song, huh? Well I'd have to say any song on Johnny Mathis' "Open Fire, Two Guitars" or "John Coltrane & Johnny Hartman". Listen and try not to melt...

Tough choice but I'd have to go with They Love Each Other by the Grateful Dead and in a different was as a love song in general maybe Beautiful Boy as from a parent to a child

Babe I'm Gonna Leave You.
No really, it is a love song!
Just to cover things from a female perspective, I'd like to throw in a vote for "You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman." Even if it's been overused in everything from shampoo commercials to bad Saturday Night Live sketches, I think it's great to hear Aretha singing about watching the morning rain, "feeiling uninspired," but having someone there to bring her up. Wouldn't anyone like someone that could do that for them?

I LOOOOVVVEEE Johnny Hartman's voice.
I've always loved Nat Cole's "Around The World"
Sinatra's "What Is This Thing Called Love"
Tony Bennett's "All The Things You Are"
Lee Wiley's "Who Can I Turn To ?"
I have a soft spot for Stevie Wonder's "Overjoyed".
It's not exactly a great sounding recording (80s sound) but it has a special place in my heart........

Tommy Roe: It's Now Winter's Day
Critters: Younger Girl
Nazz: If That's The Way You Feel
Queen: I'm In Love With My Car (hey, cars need love too!)
I agree with a number of these.
"Overjoyed" chokes me up every time i hear it.
Coltrane/Hartman doing "My One and Only Love" is another great one.
Bob Dylan has a number of exquisite love songs, though most "non-fans" or those turned off by his voice might never know it: "Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands," "Sara," so many others.
Dinah Washington singing " I Could Write a Book"
Not a song per se, but the entire "Avalon" album (it works for my wife and me). ;)

No no. "Bummer In The Summer". :D
Yes, when I saw this thread name, I thought it was about the band Love!
Mine would be both "Alone Again Or" and "Maybe the People Would Be the Times or Between Clark and Hilldale." And "You Set the Scene.":D
As for a love song, it would be at this moment Dido's "Thank You."

Alright! Finally another Dido fan! :) My wife and I saw Dido live in SF. Her live show was simply awesome (especially if you like bass - like me)! The show opened with Travis, whom we had never heard before. We are now big fans of Travis too!

As for love song suggestions, I would have to say:
Stylistics - You Make Me Feel Brand New
Tower of Power - Sparkling in the Sand

Add me to the list of Dido fans. I bought her disc almost two years ago and I would tell these people about her and they would always get stuck at the name-- "who the #$%&! is Dido? Then last year she started to catch on.

Yep, same here! :) I think she and her brother's band are quite talented. Uh, and she's not too bad in the looks department either... Not that this matters... ;)

Someone already mentioned Johnny Mathis but two of my favorite love songs would have to be Chances Are and It's Not For Me To Say. Another would be Baby, I Need Your Loving by the Four Tops. There's a haunting quality to that recording.

Indeed there is, Dave.
I've always loved "I'll Be There" by The Spinners as well.
And "United We Stand" by The Brotherhood Of Man...'Member that moldy oldie? Great song.
