According to the websites Barbra-Streisand.com and LegacyRecordings.com, five of Streisand's albums have been remastered and are being rereleased on January 29th. Also, there's a new 2-disc compilation containing 40 songs, "The Essential Barbra Streisand". Since none of these releases make it out to store shelves without Ms. Streisand's final approval and given Barbra's penchant for perfectionism, what is the forum membership's reaction to this announcement? The five reissues are: "Funny Girl"(movie soundtrack), "The Way We Were", "A Star Is Born"(movie soundtrack), "The Broadway Album" and "People". These reissues and the compilation are the starting point for Columbia/Sony's 40th anniversary celebration of Barbra's association with their record label, by the way.

Wasn't "Funny Girl" orginally released on Capitol?

I'll be getting "A Star Is Born" and "The Broadway Album".
"Broadway" was not remastered in the first reissue program and "A Star Is Born" has only come out on CD in the last several years. There was extensive tape damage done to some of the tapes, particularly on the song "One More Look At You/Are You Watching Me Now", where they had to splice in a part from vinyl. I wonder if they found a better tape.

The Broadway Cast recording of "Funny Girl" was on Capitol. The movie soundtrack was released by Columbia.

What Kind of Fool (a Top Ten hit!)
The Way He Makes Me Feel
Till I Loved You (I guess she's embarrassed about the whole Don Johnson thing)

Kym: Have we met?;)
What about "Emotion"? I have fond memories of the video, with Roger Daltry. The closest she got to rock since "Stoney End."
