For me this album by David Crosby-If I Could Only Remember My Name is one of my top five all-time Recordings for me.I have played this well over 500 times since it first came out.some of the music is simply some of the best i ever heard.i don't own the classic records re-issue anyone on the SH Forum have one-how does it compare to a original atlantic pressing.

spotlightkid,
Haven't made the comparison myself. I have it on vinyl but it's an Australian pressing.
Harry Pearson (TAS) has been a long time fan of this particular record and he often mentioned the sound of different cuts off the original when reviewing some pretty high-end gear. I think he rated it as having the best sound on a rock record he knew of (though his tastes may not be yours or mine). It was on his Super List (Bakers Dozen) so many times I lost count.
I do recall when the Classic reissue came out he devoted a couple of paragraphs to a comparison with his original. And (assuming I can remember this correctly) the upshot was that they are very close.
Since your chances of getting a decent copy of the original are close to zero, the Classic reissue sounds like a good idea. When they're gone the price on the Classic disc will probably go through the ionosphere. Even now, the price has doubled and it's still available.

I don't know how hard it is to find a clean original. I found one ("1841 Broadway" address on the label) in the first store I looked in, for $6.50. Clean as a vvvvistle ...
I've heard the same things about the Classic vs. the original ... quite close. That's why I never picked up the Classic. (Some of the tunes on this record are pretty good, but overall I feel it's rather uneven and kinda forgettable, but that's just me ... Sonically it's breathtaking.)
Classic Records has it discounted on their Web site this week, actually, for $24. And they have the Hendrix Axis mono LP for $20!

Yes the original and the Classic sound close, but if you can't find a copy which is not noisy(worn), then I'd go with the classic! by the way, Manasas is great! And also the Crosby Nash title on classic!
