Does anyone have an opinion on the MFSL Aretha Franklin I Never Loved A Man The Way I Love You ULTRADISC II?
I'm not a big fan of the Rhino version and was wondering if it might be worth it to seek this one out.
Thanks,

-Jon

I recently picked up the Rhino version. You are so right, the sound quality is bad. I've got to learn to avoid pre 2001 Rhino releases. A shame as it is such a great album. Ultradisc looks to be the only option as there appears to be no import available.
Looking forward to hearing from anyone who has the MFSL copy.

I have the MFSL. It sounds like the master tape, but with a little tiny bump at 12k. Best sounding version out there, but not sonic nirvana.

Steve is right. I have the MFSL CD and it gets as close to the truth as possible, for the STEREO version. The Rhino is the deluxe version in MONO. Given this distinction, they are going to sound different.

I have not heard the pre-Rhino Atlantic CD issue.
All in all, I prefer the MONO version of this album.

I also have the MFSL two-fer of "Lady Sou"l/"Aretha Now", and they sound like the vinyl.

Again, with the Rhino deluxe version of "Lady Soul", I prefer the mono mixes.

The "Man With Two Beards" vinyl reissue of "I never Loved A Man" is great, but it's stereo. It's not sonic nirvana, but it's worth picking up if you're a vinyl lover.
