A subscription offer arrived today. Does anyone on the forum subscribe to this one? Just wondering if they have something else to offer that Stereophile and The Absolute Sound don’t. They claim they review products with real world prices, not sure what that means though. And info would be greatly appreciated.

I subscribe to Listener too, and they do focus on affordable products more often than Stereophile, for instance, does. They also have a bit of a leaning toward analog- and vinyl-related products. (They recently had a great cover story about the best mono LPs ever, and a review of the Helikon mono cartridge.)

Michael Fremer has a regular column, as he does in Stereophile (different content, of course), and there is usually a good selection of record reviews. It's an enjoyable read.

I also subscribe to "Listener" and it's very enjoyable. It's a small format so you can easily carry it down to the local coffee shop and sit in the sun with a espresso. Hey, that's what I'm about to do! "Listener" has far fewer ads than "Stereophile" or "TAS", which I also subscribe to.

My favourite sub is "Positive Feedback" but it's a quarterly.

Mags that I don't subscribe to but often buy ... "HiFi+" from the UK has just the most fantastic photos, production etc. I like "Sensible Sound" now - it's picked up a lot in the last year. The last issue had over 200 album reviews/capsules. "Audio Musings" is a nice read and one of the few that ensures multiple reviewers check out the components providing balance.

The one I miss is "Ultimate Audio".

Regards,
Metralla

Whatever happened to that mag? Its web site is still up and has the cover of the Spring 2001  issue (the last one I received) prominently on display. :(

I've got a business proposal here. Given my impeccable track records of having the publishers of audio magazines to which I subscribed go MIA on me, it is hereby my pleasure to announce my latest venture into audio hardware/software review publishing, KTM, LLC and its sister company STZ, LLC.

KTM (Kill That Mag), LLC.
We will subscribe to the competing magazine(s) in your market segment(s) and I shall help put it (them) out of business. Service charges are negotiable, plus costs of subscriptions. Please also kindly consider the service provided by our sister company STZ, LLC.

STZ (Save Thy Zine), LLC.
We will unsubscribe to the magazine(s) you publish so I shall not put it (them) out of business. Service charges are negotiable, plus costs of subscriptions to be cancelled. Please also kindly consider the service provided by our sister company KTM, LLC.

As our business grow in the future, we will expand into other areas. For the time being, we choose to concentrate on our expertise, the audio magazine publishing business. ;)

Listener is a fun mag to read - they definitely have a sense of humor. One warning though - there was a review of the remix of George Harrison's All Things Must Pass that gave it a big thumbs up for the sonics, especially how you could hear individual things in the mix - me, I give it a BIG thumbs down for crummy revisionist thinking - Wall of Sound reduced to rubble.... Jeeezus, can you imagine what Phil Spector must have said when he got a copy of it??? Hey Steve, any of your Tuesday morning pals get wind of Phil's thoughts on that hack job??? :D

Yeah, what happened to Ultimate Audio? I'm still waiting for Part 2 of the Bob Ludwig interview, over a year now.

Listener promised a recurring column delving into the archaic science of playing and collecting mono lp's. For that, they've got me hooked.

Been reading the mag for a couple years. Audiopihilia with a sense of humour.
