I've got a bit of a mystery on my hands & I'm hoping someone can help me out...

Roxio will not burn my enhanced CD project of five WAVs and three MPEGs because it says there is not enough room on my 700 MB/80 min CDR -- the fact is, those eight files account for 468 MB/53 min, leaving me with 234 MB/27 min to spare. What gives? Seems like there is plenty of room, but Roxio won't budge past its error message.

Does anyone know why this is?

You might have to go to version 6, or maybe patch it from the roxio web site to the latest version of 5

Switch to Nero. Best thing I ever did. Too many whacky problems with Easy...

Do not burn it as an Enhanced CD. The only reason to do that is if you have both DATA and VIDEO. MP3 and WAV files are considered DATA, so burn it as a DATA CD and not and Enhanced CD.:)

I should've been a little more specific -- the MPEGs are videos and the WAVs are the audio portions of the videos...I needed to make an enhanced disc so I could listen to it on a CD player & watch the videos on my computer...

I say 'needed' 'cause an upgrade patch from Roxio finally enabled me to make the disc and it came out alright!

Thank you everyone for your advice.

You need to re-multiplex the video. As you do this, you need to do this into a video standard like DVD or VCD. It may take time. Are you sure the video and wav files go together? Look on the net for TMPGEnc...

As for the cross--compatability of the files, depends on the length of the program. Sounds like you won't be able to have both.

What are some benefits of Nero? I've been quite happy with Roxio version 5.

Easier manipulation in authoring a CD. Roxio works fine, but the biggest problem with Roxio right now is the fact that the versions of Roxio won't be compatable with most drives unless you "upgrade" and usually you have to plow the site to get them. Nero is a straight install, less time to learn for most people.

Try Nero, you might like it. But that doesn't mean that if something works for you, that you should change....

Roxio 5 works great for me with no hiccups under Win 98 or 2000. I just can't seem to turn off that damned Gracenote! It wants to connect to the internet everytime a disc is finished burning. Yes, I have auto insert disconnected, and Gracenote disabled in the properties.

Nero is a pain in the *** to use, and uses a lot of overhead, but it works well! I don't like how it defaults to a 2-second gap for DAO mode. You can't even change it. When you rip a CD, you have to tell Nero NOT to convert to mp3! Aurrggghhh!

CEP is too basic for me, but works well.

CD Archetect 5 takes tons of recources and disc space, but it is the best, I think.

Dunno -- my disc turned out just the way I wanted it to...

In a nutshell, I downloaded three XTC music video 'movies' with MPEG file extensions. They play nicely on my computer's Media Player and I wanted to archive 'em to CDR. I also decided to record the soundtracks of two of the movies as separate WAVs to listen on the stereo and so I decided to burn an enhanced disc as per Roxio's instructions. I had already made a few in the past & thought this would be no different...

Available space was the issue when it came time to burn, despite knowing & having Roxio show me that this was not a concern. Once I installed the patch, I was off & burning my enhanced disc without a hitch...
