Tonight, I'm listening to the DCC vinyl "The Very Thought of You" (lovely) and I'll post a nice Nat King Cole story... My dad was a DJ in New York in the 50-60's (jazz, later Doo-op, then "oldies"). The day Nat passed away (my parents met him a few times in the past). My dad was on the air, playing doo-op and other "oldies" and he called my mom at their apartment to pull some Nat King Cole records from their own collection to play on the air (he wanted to do an all night homage to him). She got the records ready but was too tired to go to the station, so he made an announcent on the air, would any NYC cabbie be willing to drive to their address and pick up the records so he can play them in memory of Nat... So, a taxi (12 or 1AM) drove up to their building (on 53rd Street), picked up the records from their doorman and hand delivered the records to my dad at the station and (if I remember correctly) couldn't care less about the fare. Nat would've been poud of that kindness in his memory...

That sure is a great story, Todd.

Everyone who ever met Nat says the same thing...what a kind, gentle, lovely man he was.

Its just terrible that we lost him so soon. I think he was only in his early 50s, if I'm not mistaken.

So please...DONT SMOKE!!

Sadly, I still smoke (not like Nat to "improve" the timbre of his voice") but one day I'll stop (my wife did but I'm a little weak in this department as of the now)...

Don't feel bad Todd I'm in exactly the same situation.

I've tried quitting twice now to no avail. I really think that women have an easier time of it than we do. I know at least 8 women who've quit permanently but only 2 men and that's in the last 18 years.

Butt hey (pun intended) we just gotta keep tryin'.;)

I'm 46, I've quit smoking it's five years now. The hardest but most satisfying thing I've ever done for myself.

It took me four solid tries to make it stick. Tried hypnosis twice, which I think helped, but just did it on the last try.

Don't let those S.O.B.'s win!
