They are Fisher speakers, Studio standard, 100 watt, model STV-876A. They also say "Magnetic Field Compensted - For use with television receivers". Anyhow, I unhooked my Yamaha model NS-A570 140 watt speakers and hooked these up. Definately a more subdued, mellow sound to them.
For $10, I thought that it was a very good experiment. Any comments on my speakers would be very helpful. I don't know alot about good or bad quality components yet. I just saw the Fisher name and made an impulse buy. Thanks!!!

I thought they looked kinda cool when I took the outer covers off!

I've never heard vintage Fisher speakers, but many in the vintage room at Audio Asylum seemed to think they sounded a bit dry and dead.
The Fisher amps and receivers, OTOH, were stellar designs (I sure love mine).
Again, I've never heard them so take it with a grain of salt.
But for just $10 it sounds like a steal. Let us know how they sound.

I remember in college, I built a Dynaco Stereo 80 solid state amp and a Dynaco Pat 4 solid state preamp. I thought that this was the best sounding stuff in the world-----until I hooked up my dad’s Fisher tube receiver to my speakers. Boy was I bummed out---my Dynaco stuff sounded like s**t compared to the ‘tubed” Fisher receiver. The Fisher was so “smoooooooooth”.
