These days, mostly car (and mostly radio).

Now that I have a lovely hour-long commute between home and the office ... I guess if you add it up I spend more time listening in the car. I'd prefer it to be the other way around, but ...

Home.
My commute is short, and I usually stick with the news in the car.
Unfortunately it's in my car. Or on my office boombox.
At home I've just gotten my first tube amp (a Decware Zen set) and it sounds sweet as can be. I want to listen to it all the time as i'm hearing things in the music that i've never heard before and everything sounds so much better. But I also have two nine-month old twins at home, so finding time to really listen at home is tough to do these days.
It's really a shame that with all the time and money I'm putting into trying to achieve some modest semblence of "high fidelity" that I'm forced to mostly listen to crappy car speakers or a dinky Aiwa minisystem!

Most of my listening is done at home. I have a very short commute (10-12 minutes) so the six discs I pop in the changer each week can last anywhere from one to two weeks. While I have put lots of money into car audio components over the years I now see no point. First the car environment is always a compromise. Second, it never fails that once I got a system together that sounded pretty good, someone a**hole would steal it or the car would get some mechanical problem and I'd be looking for a new car. Fortunetly I'm happy with the factory stereo in my Audi because it has a custom head unit that appears to be double DIN sized. Not easy to replace. Anyway, I'll spend my money on home audio equipment. Although not part of my current main system, I still have components I bought in the seventies. They still work! In that same time I've gone through six or seven cars and untold car stereos.

At home!
It just takes me two-and-a-half minutes to get to work so it's not an issue for me. Besides, I really prefer shock talk radio in the car at night.

More at home than in the car, I have a short ride to work(3mi) and when I have to take my son to school, he 's always pestering me to hear one of his STAR WARS discs, but i guess things could be worse , but I just get a little buned out on them!!!!!

Definitely the car. A 1-hour commute equals lots of listening time in the car.
And you know, I really enjoy it. It's probably the most alone time I get, with work being a pressure cooker, and home having two little kids (read: noisy!). I'm also pretty happy with the sound in my car, with 10 speakers you really feel immersed, like with headphones, but still being able to feel the bass (unlike headphones).

The CD player in my Trans Am is broke.:(
The am/fm cassette in my truck sucks.
The cassette player in our Explorer only plays out of the left channel.
Obviously, I prefer my home system!:)

I enjoy listening to music everywhere including home where I can lay on my bed and listen to the music I wish to hear. Last night, I played Jimmie Rodgers's "Essential" on my CD player, before that, I listened to an imported Carter Family best of compilation entitled "Wildwood Flower."

....the car mostly, but I decided to not give up good sound and put in one of the best "purist" head units (Nakamichi CD700) along with a/d/s amps and a 3-way set of Dynaudio drivers. This is the absolutely best audio I have ever had in a car.

Definitely home... My car has a Volvo stock radio... ugh :(
So, I rarely listen to music in the car... I keep it tuned to NPR... Catch up on the news of the world, etc.
I just can't stand the way music sounds coming from the radio.

I listen to both systems frequently.
Since I commute to work in a car and the commute takes an hour a day, I invested in a decent car stereo last year.
Better speakers, amps, sub, the works.
It's a pleasure to drive with great tunes.
You only live once, you might as well have great sound everywhere you go.
JohnG:)
PS: in my car I use,
Boston Acoustic speakers
Kicker sub
PG amp and a Kicker amp
Sony h/u and cd changer.
