THE "short" version: I have the Tivoli PAL mono spkr w/tuner--around $130--mainly for use w/ipod. A friend just got the newest ipod and asked about spkrs.

Any better ideas? I love the portability of the PAL, and the sound is pretty good for what it is; also (I think) could be used w/computer, which is important to my bud.

I know AR made a cube-like self-powered sold as stereo pair--are those still on the market? ADS also used to make some nice small speakers, but haven't seen them in years, and I don't think they were ever made w/mini-plug inputs.

Anyway, thoughts? Opinions? All feedback welcome!

thanks,

doug

Hi,
For small active speakers, you should look at computer mutimedia speakers. Most are gawdawful, but some are actually quite good. For nearfield listening, I have a pair of Monsoons.

Weird bass, but amazing imaging and nice tone. Jeff

Won't play too loud though.
