Has Anyone Tried "Audio Points"?

Has anyone ever tried these before? I am a firm believer of what good quality cables do for fidelity, but how about "isolation" feet? I was recommended to try them by someone (reputable, no names but his initials are RS ;)) in the industry. I find no testimonials or anything else on the internet as to their benefits, so I'm not about to spend the $300-400 (L/R+sub) without some hard facts or feedback. Even if this person is supposedly reputable. Thanks!

I have three Polycrystal isolator cones under my Music Hall MMF-5 turntable, and it did tighten up the sound and widen the soundstage, so I think it was a good improvement for $60.

IIRC Cliff, Steve uses Symposium Roller Blocks. If not, I'm sure he'll let us know. As I recall though they are definitely not for the faint of wallet at around $500.00 for a set.

I use silly little .25 cent superballs from a "gumball" type machine. They are actually sorbothane "ball"s. Buy some, cut them in half, put them under your equipment and see if you appreciate the difference (if any).

It worked for me, that's all I can say.

...and they are just a tad cheaper than Audio Points. Just a tad. ;)


PS: I have Black Diamond Racing Cones under my speakers. They work, too!

I've never tried the audio points, but my rack has isolation feet under each shelf. They do me a world of good because my floors are hollow and my old wooden rack used to dance around with the music.

Along the same lines as what Gary describes, AudioQuest sells sorbothane half-balls for the princely sum of $70 for a set of four. I use these too, but I saved an arm and a leg by going to the source: www.tweakshop.com/BlackHolePods.html

I use those "superballs" that are .25 cents each but the problem is that they can roll around pretty good. I have not found the "perfect" way to stop the rolling effect but these guys seem to have that covered!

Tubes should be rolled - not equipment! :D

Yeah, Gary, these won't roll around for anything. AudioQuest includes some kind of washer or plate or something with theirs (I guess that's where your extra $50 is going) to keep them from damaging the finish, supposedly, on whatever they're touching. I personally don't know what they're going to damage, unless maybe they're exposed to some pretty extreme heat, which mine aren't.

I'm currently using Daruma bearing, and they have brought a noticable improvement. I hope to step up to some Symposiums a little later, but am still recovering from a new truck...

Yes, they do make quite a difference. I did carry the line for a while but sales were so slow I discontinued. The tighten up the bass, better midrange, and better separation between the instruments. All in all they do make a nice difference. :D

I have some Nordost Pulsar points that I will be sticking under my DVD Transport and have started to think about getting some Aurios (they have been recommended by a number of people) to use under my turntable. Has there been a comparative review of these isolation devices anywhere ?

Not that I have ever seen. There would be a problem doing a comparative review. Different types of isolation - energy transfer systems work differently on the same piece of equipment with different results. One would have try about 30 or 40 types to see which works best in his system. (Not Practical) I find that most do something positive in certain areas of the sound. I have not found one that improves all areas. I have not found one to be all that superior to another, I think the correct word to us is DIFFERENT. What works in one persons system will not necessary realize the same great benefits to you.
