I have ben reading many reviews for the new Batman movie and cannot find one that doesn't rave about how good this movie is.

I am really looking forward to seeing this. I never saw a movie get so many glowing reviews in my life.

I already have tickets to see it at the Imax tomorrow morning.

I'm still debating if I should see it tonight on the "regular" screen.

Sure, just throw in an ample amt. of CGI, lots of explosions and a pseudo-villain and everybody is happy . . . the collective conscience of America is appalling.

I rather watch a spider in its web in my garage . . .that's real drama.:righton:

I am more of a Terrence Malick/Stanley Kubrick kind of guy, those action thingies bore me silly.

for the record, I loved The prestige, Nolan was outstanding in that as was Bale . . . Batman franchise for both of them is slumming.

The acting is average at best. Everyone praising Heath Ledger is simply not wanting to speak bad about someone who passed away. How Maggie Gyllenhaal continues to get work is beyond me. Aaron Eckhart is completely wasted, and Christian Bale (who I loved as in Batman Begins) takes a huge step down.

Most disappointing to me wa the direction. Christopher Nolan, who directed one of my favorite films of the last 10 years (The Prestige), can't decide if he wants to make an action film or a drama, and ends up just making a film with no clear direction at all.

Yes, the visuals are stunning in the movie, and the action scenes are first rate. And I guess that it is why it i getting such great reviews, because we live in an MTV society which wants everything in your face and pounded over your head instead having to be made to pay attention to things like character development and plot.

Thank God I didnt have to buy the ticket . . . .

My advice to you all: skip this one and wait for the dvd.

I tend to agree...would everyone be making such a hoopla if Mr. Ledger had not passed? We will see in the fall when the AW nominees are posted...

I went to the midnight showing (first time in ages that I've done that!) and really loved it. It does live up to the hype IMHO. Itense, dark, and Heath's Joker was downright terrifying at times. Superhero movies never scare me, this one did.

Take my words with a grain of salt, I'm not a movie geek or a huge Batman fan. I never read the comic books so I don't have a long personal history with the character. I just loved the movie is all. :)

Scroll to the bottom for less than rave reviews.

appalling.Actually there is an ample amount of discussion about the refreshing lack of CGI.

as for the tragic loss of heath ledger, his performance was being praised long before he passed away. another great talent lost in their prime. peace.

Count me among the lowly, unwashed Plebeians who will watch and enjoy this type of unsophisticated, nonintellectual and socially unredeeming movie.

I was thinking when I read the OP thread title, "don't worry some pleasant personality here will be glad to poo-poo the movie".
I never thought someone would be arrogant enough to bad talk a movie that they haven't even seen.

I can't wait to see the movie myself, I always thought Jack's version of the Joker was more like Cesar Romero's and not the evil guy in the old Comic Books.

This movie became a blockbuster the day Ledger died. All reviews are suspect until one has seen it for themselves. That said, I am pretty stoked for it.

Actually there is an ample amount of discussion about the refreshing lack of CGI.

That is true the movie had a refreshing organic look to it. The Two Face make up was particularly well done. Check out the SPOILER image here:

And not to just be praising a dead man, but Nickelson's Joker performance takes a back seat to Ledger. He really captured the comic character's insanity and unrestrained malice.

Saw it tonight - it's a GREAT flick, and I don't throw around "great" lightly. Maybe the best superhero movie ever. Just relentless and amazing... :righton:

Well, crack open a bottle of chateauneuf de pape , go watch Eyes Wide Shut, and get the hell out of this thread! Don't forget to listen to your "Beatles-free" Ipod.
