I'm shopping for new speaker cables and have it limited down to the lower end stuff by Harmonic Technology or Acoustic Zen. I've also looked at Analysis plus. Which of these provides the best value for the money and is the most smooth and neutral? Opinions would be appreciated.

Grovers future silver cables? :D

I have not heard any of these. Have you considered Kimber 8TC's? They sound very revealing to me!

Alternate: DIY Cat 5 cables.

Just a thought!

Yeah, I agree. I wish Grover would make speaker cable. That would be great if he made something that Steve approved of. I don't necessarily want revealing because that can mean harsh. I want neutral, smooth, and natural.

The Acoustic Zen Satoris are an outstanding value--a couple of years ago I did a survey of about 25 speaker cables from $200-$2000 and the satoris were among the 5 best (the others being the omega mikro, audience, etc...). I owned them for 2 years but recently upgraded--you can easily find a pair on audiogon.

I traded a pair of Cardas Neutral Refs for the Satori and have not looked back. They work well in my system.

I've tried both the Harmonic Technology Melody Line and the Acoustic Zen Satoris. I think the Satoris are more neutral. But having heard Grover's interconnects, I think it would be worth waiting to see what he builds for speaker cables. The lower end HTs and AZs are still not cheap.

It's only a matter of time before Grover comes up with his Speaker Cables. I for one am waiting eagerly!

Touching on what Gary brought up but I have been real happy with what the DIY Cat 5 cables I made sound like. The cost was like nothing and I spent a weekend off and on hurting what was left of my fingers doing the braiding. I did a test with some Kimber's and I could not tell the difference, but then again this is subjective to my ears. I did test them against my monster 12 gauge and a set of silver cables biwire setup I have and I could tell the difference with the Cat 5 sounding more to my liking. I was after something that opened up the music and that what these have done.

I want to try Grover's speaker cables, but I am really, really pleased with my Cardas Golden Reference. Unbelievable midrange purity and deep soundstaging.

If you want to try Cardas, check out www.cardas.com He also has a great formula for speaker placement based on golden ratios.

For less expensive wire, the new Kimber entry levels are good.

Lee, after hearing what Gary said about the betterment of the Grovers over his Kimber Silver Streaks I would highly doubt that the entry level Kimbers would even come close to the Grovers even though they are around the same price point. Just MHO.:)
