Total Recall

Die Hard 2
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
All great to watch with the sound off if your listening to music or just don't want the volume on .

Well these aren't exactly TV movies. When I saw the thread title I thought of stuff like "The Night Stalker" and some of the sci-fi channel original movies. The latter is especially good without the sound up as they are so amazingly BAD that to listen and watch would cause brain damage.
Terry Malick's movies work so well visually that you don't need to have the sound up. The same with some of Kubrick's films (actually "Barry Lyndon" is better with the sound off IMHO) and "Alien" works quite well with the sound off. You get an interesting vibe if you watch that while listening to "Animals" or something equally dark and sinister.

The purr-fect song to play to TV video is Barefoot Jerry's Watchin' TV With The Radio On. I frequently watch the Atlanta Braves to music. I can't say I like movies with alternative audio.

.....another good song would be Black Flag's TV Party Tonight.

Pulp Fiction.
I mean, if you're watching it on TV, there's no reason to listen to the audio - it's half gone anyway. Not to mention if you're enough of a Tarantino fan that you *must* watch it on TV just because it's on, you can probably recite the movie in your head! :D

Or Hallle Berry. Especially that one from a few years ago with her and John Travolta. I think it was called Swordfish.

"Out of Sight" is an exception to this rule. She's actually pretty good in it and it's a great movie (George Clooney helps as well according to my wife).

She's actually pretty good in it and it's a great movie (George Clooney helps as well according to my wife).Ironically, my first view of this movie was when it happened to be on a TV with sound off at a party. I was very intrigued by the 10 minutes I saw with the two actors Lopez and Clooney, who at the time I didn't think much about, surprising me. Not to take too much away from the actors but later when I discovered the names Elmore Leonard and Steven Soderbergh attached I said "aha".

I like it when they yell out their fav shows. I quess they're all off the air now except Monday Night Football. :)
Once upon a time, I made a cassette tape with all the TV songs I could find in my collection, TV Party..., Watchin' TV with..., Joe Jackson's TV Age, and Zappa's I'm The Slime (Ozzin' From Your TV Set). Now, I wanna remake it on MD or CD.

I'm more word-oriented than picture-oriented. I could listen to TV without a picture longer than I could watch without sound. In fact, I have a radio that gets TV sound.
Until this moment, it had never occurred to me to watch anything w/o sound. Even with closed captioning, something essential is lost.

That whole "Damaged" album is great fun... "Six Pack" is excellent! As is "Rise Above"....

Wizard of Oz with Pink Floyd soundtrack and a big doobie.
I've never actually tired it, but a local community theatre has done it a couple times.

City of Lost Children. Visually stunning, and it's in French, so it doesnt lose much by putting it on mute while I crank some music or something for a party,

TV is quite good without sound. I prefer it that way. No more annoying, LOUD commercials intruding, no more constant blabbing. You can put on your favorite music and listen to that and watch the screen if you have to focus your eyes on something. I recommend the Weather Channel with the sound off highly....and Animal Planet.
Can't forget those endless infomercials for Girls Gone Wild either....

I only turn on the TV when I want to watch something. And I tape practically everything, so I don't watch commercials most of the time.
