Maybe you're confusing it with Bewitched? Although, i wouldn't mind seeing Jessica Alba in the Genie outfit.

Director Sid Ganis has hired Rita Hsiao to rewrite the script for the movie based on the iconic 1960s sitcom.

Sid Ganis is not a director, he's a producer; some of his previous credits include Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo and Dana Carvey's Master of Disguise, which should give you some idea of his pedigree.

There's nothing necessarily wrong with a remake of a remake (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0033870/).

Well, technically, there was a made-for-TV reunion movie in the '80s. It had most of the original cast except for Larry Hagman, who was replaced with Wayne Rogers.

Well, technically, there was a made-for-TV reunion movie in the '80s. It had most of the original cast except for Larry Hagman, who was replaced with Wayne Rogers. And there was also the 1991's I Still Dream of Jeannie, which had (57 year old) Barbara Eden and Bill Daily.
