Curious to know where the video release of the TAMI show that was supposed to be released last year stands--is Neil Young involved LOL?

Neil, Schpeal, what the heck DID happen with this dvd??!!
We were all set to go and then the bottom fell out.
We ain't getting any younger, folks! That goes for you too, Neil Young! Get this stuff out to your diminishing "target" audiences before we all kick the same bucket you're looking at, already! This stuff makes me insane. :realmad:

No not Neil, Phil Spector.
Plus Dick Clark(?)
and possibly the Beach Boys. Including Mr. Friendly himself, Mike Love.
Was the negative found or were they just going to reheash the VHS release?

Big thread over in Music, but haven't got time now to look at it, to see if the answer is there.

In that other thread, the last news, from Brad Olson, posted in September last year, was
"It is now scheduled for release about December 2007. Supposedly the musical rights have tentatively been re-negotiated. But as always in the crazy world that is the music business this could always change (again)."
Obviously, it did change again :(

Mike has spent a lot of time in the last 10 years or so suing almost anyone he can. Al, Brian etc etc. Things seem to have calmed down. He has been known to hold up a few projects in the past. This is way to long trying to say it was a JOKE!!!!!! :D

I am realed bummed out that this hasn't been released. I was really looking forward to it when I first read about its release. I saw this show on cable about 30 years ago.

Probably the same thing that happened to the Paul Shaffer British Invasion DVD. It was held up for a few years...then it was supposed to be out in March..then it got pushed back to June...then July...then Amazon told me it was coming between May 16 and May 24th...then they basically said 'we don't know when we are getting it.'

Haven't The Beach Boys released their part of the show on a couple DVDs compilations? It doesn't seem to be about keeping it in the vault.

The Beach Boys have released their part on another DVD but it doesnt take but one to nix the whole thing. If that is the problem its a shame. Also wasn't their discussion from Joel Cairo that it was actually videotaped and that tape was miles better than any other version they could release--if so I want that version released.

Actually, Brad Olson was the one who mentioned that he had information that indicated that at least **some** of the original video elements still existed, though a portion of those have evidently been deemed unusable...

At this point in the game, I'll take Furmanek's restored kinescope. Better than the nothing we seem to be getting. :shake:

Which means absolutely nothing. That listing's been there for more than a year now. We could be waiting for that pre-order until the next century.

Doesn't Daniel Snyder - the Washington Redskins owner - now own and control the Dick Clark holdings (not to be confused with the Dave Clark holdings).

Before or after the old Tami thread started?
Does he own Tami AND the Bandstand footage?

Don't know much about the TAMI show, but they included all of the Beach Boys songs from the show on the "Sights and Sounds of Summer" CD/DVD package a few years ago. Strangely, the video quality seemed more murky than even recent TV broadcasts and other examples I had remembered.
