I finally watched this movie last night. I thought it was pretty good, definitely worth watching, but I would just like to comment on Philip Seymour Hoffman's performance. After the first scene he was in (not the very beginning but his first scene with lines) I said aloud (I was the only person in the room) "he didn't even get F$%*^^&$ nominated for this movie"? Come to find out he did get a Best Supporting Actor nomination but the fact that he didn't win is a crime. Don't get me wrong I thought Javier Bardem was excellent in No Country For Old Men. But PSH was absolutely stellar in Charlie Wilson's War. If he was in no other scenes but the one I spoke he deserved to win.

While I agree that he's utterly great in this (and The Savages as well), it would have been a real shocker if anybody had beat Javier Bardem for his electrifying performance. His performance will be remembered for many years.
I rack it up to -- last year was a very good year for films, one that gave us more great performances than could ever have been rewarded with wins.
But just to say something else nice about Charlie Wilson's War -- I found it very surprising and a delight -- much better than I expected for some reason. And it features the best reason for hiring secretaries I've ever heard!

What movie was he in, Javier Bardem?
I, too, really liked PSH in CWW.
CWW was very good.
Intelligent, engaging, thought provoking and full of great acting, which explains why it did squat at the box office in this day and age.
Hopefully, it'll become a huge sleeper hit on DVD.

Pretty good flick. Not what I expected from Tom Hanks. Hoffman was excellent, but I thought he should have won something for Almost Famous too. Great actor and always fun to see what he will bring to a character.

I concur regarding Phillip Seymour Hoffman, but the best performance of any sort last year - to me - was Casey Affleck in "The Assasination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford." He was nominated as Supporting Actor, because that is based on billing, but he was the primary actor in the movie, which was criminally underseen.

Apart from Julia Roberts' wig, it was a pretty good movie.

I enjoyed the film. And while I thoroughly enjoyed PSH's performance (what's not to like?) I do think the right actor got the award. And besides...I think Hoffman was definitely deserving of his win for Capote.

The film was good. But the History Channel did a thing called "The True Story of Charlie Wilson" which was better than the movie

Yeah, it was a good show, though I thought the most interesting thing was that it demonstrated how accurate much of the film was - it took fewer liberties than I'd have assumed...
