Neat. I still remember MTV's debut. So much different back then.

Wow...Bow Wow Wow's "Do You Wanna Hold Me?" video straight into the Who's "You Better You Bet" video (love Pete Townshend playing that Telecaster, by the way) and then the Motels. I'm loving this!
I wish it was 1983 again.

It's hard to believe this is the same television network that's on the air today...

Back when the 'M' stood for "Music".
I love the "Call your cable provider to get MTV in stereo" ad!

Holy smokes this is so so cool! :righton:
My sister and I absorbed every possible second that we could of this channel. I was around 13 at this time and this is a total time capsule for me.
'83 through '86, MTV was my musical and pop culture instructor.
Shame it's so awful now...or is that just my age talking.

Pretty bad for the most part but Steve Millier rocked.
Just saw an old client of mine, John Elefante, who sang with Kansas for Fire with Fire. What a hoot. He was in a cover band playing Kansas songs when he joined them.
I also had a friend, Norm Norman, who I got signed to Rocshire in 1983 and there was a video that ran on MTV. I'm betting nobody remembers him. Funny thing is we recorded the tracks almost 3 years before they were released.
I'd love to see that one, but I'm not holding my breath. I think it only ran a dozen or so times.

They showed a Michael Bolton video on there. I didn't know he "rocked".

Yeah, I'm sure many here know more that I do about it, but IIRC the original singer left them in the lurch and John was in the right place at the right time.
Him and his brother Dino had a studio, Pakaderm, just a few miles from where I used to live and I did some work for them in 1983.
I think they may be still active in Nashville or there abouts doing Christian music.

This brings back lots of memories! I have a few VHS tapes full of MTV programming from the early years stashed away somewhere.

Pretty neat trip down memory lane. Try to find 3 hours of solid video programming on MTV these days period.

I have 4 hours (2 SP tapes) of recorded MTV videos from the early 80's, but it's not in Hi-Fi...still some neat stuff.
