Not for the squeamish, here's one that won't be on TV anytime soon - Paramount Pictures' 1958 cannibal cartoon Chew Chew Baby:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIWaeNztPHI The poster has a 35mm IB Tech print on sale via Ebay, so if you want to see this grisly animated short better look fast. Bluto's voice man Jackson Beck and Popeye's Jack Mercer sound like they're providing the voice work here. You won't forget the phrase "If you ever get to Cincinnati - look me up!" after watching this one....
Rare... not so much in terms of scarcity, but rare in that it's actually a good 50s Paramount cartoon... they had about a 98% clunker rate by then, literally ruined the Popeye series... for once they got off the Casper/Katnip/Huey treadmill, and it paid off here.
Memo to Mike Love... "It's OK" to f*** with the formula.
I vaguely recall this'un from 60s TV.
Yes, I'm very old.
Thanx for the link.

Paramount/Famous ground out a lot of dull cartoons - this one is a lot better than the usual stuff they made. :agree:

I dunno...I found it kind of boring and predictable, except for the last 30 seconds, which was a mild twist that I didn't see coming. Color me: unimpressed.

We're talking Paramount/Famous Studios cartoons here - this is a gem for them amongst the rest of the junk they made...

Wow -- the subtext on that cartoon is astonishing.

I love their Superman shorts (the ones with the Fleichers involved - once Paramount took over they became WWII propaganda pieces).

Those Superman cartoons are probably the best looking shorts that Fleischer/Paramount produced. The post Fleischer work /after the war production certainly didn't come close to those gorgeous Superman cartoons. By the mid 50's Famous/Paramount cartoons were pretty much copies of the UPA stylized shorts.
