Yesterday I visited Amazon to investigate acquiring a used DVD of the Coen Brothers' literary classic The Big Lebowski - therein, I was confronted by several versions; released in different years, different configurations, etc. Are all of them decent choices, or is there one to avoid from a picture-quality (or other qualitative) perspective?

Thanks,
the Dude :nauga:

When you left the store, did you say to yourself: "**** it, lets go bowling?"

No, I was on my way to buy a Persian throw rug; some design element to tie my place together.

Great movie one of my all time favorites.... I read where Jeff Bridges used his own clothes for the part..

I'd get the 2005 DVD just for the Mortimer Young introduction.

That is mentioned in the "Im a Lebowski, You're a Lebowski" book, a great read... and excellent companion piece to the movie :)

and my favourite quote at the moment..

"Dude tomorrows the tenth......."

"................far out."

the Dude asks the Auto Circus Cop if there are any leads on who stole his beater car

Leads!!?, yeah, sure. I'll just check with the boys down at the crime lab, they've got four more detectives working on the case. They got us working in shifts! Leads!? :D

The Dude: Jesus, man, could you change the channel?
Cab Driver: **** you man. If you don't like my ****in' music get your own ****in' cab!
The Dude: I had a rough...
Cab Driver: I pull over and kick your *** out!
The Dude: Come on, man. I had a rough night and I hate the ****in' Eagles, man!

Well, on a break today at Borders I got the DVD (2005, Widescreen Edition, Digitally Remastered - wu hu!) on sale for about twice the price of the latte I had at the cafe there. So, I will abide with the Dude when I get home, after putting on my Aloha shorts and terrycloth robe. Refreshments. :D

You mean coitus? ;)

I own the original DVD and there aren't English subtitles. Aside from that, no issues. If you can find the special edition for the same price or cheaper, might as well go ahead and get it.

Wherever you get the DVD, make sure it's a good place.

And very thorough.
