I remember watching that live - I felt terrible for the guy but I had to laugh! I don't think they ever said exactly what was on the cylinder.

He did start to say the F word but the quickly changed it to the more common and slightly less troublesome S word. :D

I am not a cylinder expert, but most likely it wasn't really a one-of-a-kind item. Early cylinders and home recordings are originals, but most cylinders that exist nowadays were mass-produced. Still, if there's anything worse than one of your records breaking, it's when you break it yourself.

I think I can recall one more-Lucille Ball in a Department Store giving salesclerk Mel Blanc a case of acute Indigestion after breaking some expensive dishes mistakenly thinking they were UN- breakable in an episode of "Here's Lucy" ( dunno which episode,tho'...anyone know?) Michael Boyce
