After saying he was not going to do it, Bryan Singer is back on the new SUperman film!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On a lesser note, they are remaking Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes! Has nothing to do with Superman except maybe the color red.

Meh. I thought the first one blew. Boring and the acting was fairly wooden.

If he makes a second one he should recast Lois Lane.

Miight as well recast the whole lot...
Kevin Spacey really did not do it for me.

But Lois was the real problem with the film for me. No personality and no chemistry with Superman.

Katie Holmes is free.....:D

You talkin' about the Killer Tomatoes movies?

She was WAY too young for the part.
Spacey's Hackman impression grew thin too. I thought for sure they'd go for a different Lex due to the character being different than the last twenty or so years... instead we were given the same evil real estate agent...

Well, the whole movie was too indebted to the 1978 Superman. I understand Singer's temptation to do it that way -- I'm fond of the 1978 movie too -- but it was a mistake. His movie ended up having no life of its own.

Outside of the plane crashing from the sky and some good lines from Parker Posey I was not thrilled by it...

I felt that way too.

I thought the whole cast was to young but keep in mind this was planned as the first of at least 3 to 4 films so Bryan planned for them to "grow" into their parts. If these films were still being made in 10 years then they would all fit perfect. Plus the fact that I was around 24 years old when the first film came out so everyone looks like Dawson Creek cast offs to me :)

According to Singer he is going to up the action on the sequel.

I stated this in the Superman Returns thread. I thought the whole "cover Metropolis in rocks" premise was stupid.

On a more optimistic note, Alex Ross has some great free wallpapers of the dude in blue:
http://www.alexrossart.com/wallpapers.asp Personally I like the one that's black w/Superman pulling away his jacket revealing the "S".

Absolutely stupid movie, sometimes it seemd like it was a remake, sometimes it didn't. Bad acting, no chemistry between Superman and Lois, Spacey was underused.
No Cristopher Reeves, no Margot Kidder and no John Williams, no Superman.

I liked it alright. Ah well.

The real problem with the first one is the Director - he makes terrible decisions, and would rather use friends than people who are right for the role.
Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor was a ridiculously bad choice.
What was a 23 year old playing Lois Lane for also?
I don't care for Bryan Singer at all. Total hack.

I didn't particularly like Brandon Routh or the slight costume modifications (colors too dark and what's with the Speedos?)
What other villain could they use? And I DON'T want General Zod, et al.

Found this:
# When Tim Burton was attached to direct the Superman costume was all dark blue, featured a blood-red cape, and featured the classic "S" symbol in the form of daggers.

Hmmm . . . I LOVED it! Didn't like Lois Lane, though. Routh did a great job, and Bryan Singer always gives a consummate professionalism and artistry to his films . . . not a hack at all . . . unlike Brett Ratner . . . ;)

Among a mix of problems, Kate Bosworth was the biggest issue. She really kills the film - too young, too petulant, and no chemistry with Routh.
Still, I'll be interested in another flick. Maybe they'll learn from their mistakes...
