They hand build little tube amps and pre-amps. Fi gear was popular with some of the Listener magazine writers.
I've been doing Google searches like crazy but I can't find anything.
Are they still around?
Thanks,
Dan C

If you search over in the SET forum on audioasylum.com there's information about Don Garber an his Fi X amps. I don't think he has ever had a web page. I think I saw a phone number there somewhere.

His amps have quite a good reputation but I've never heard them. I think he builds to order.

Here's a link to a used Fi X amp sold recently on audiogon:

The shape of the chassis explains the naming convention.

Hope this is the "Fi" your looking for.

Thanks much!
I read Fi makes a great tubed phono pre as well.

I'd sure like to see him put up a web site, at least to get an idea on prices and what he offers.

Thanks again,
Dan C

From a copy of the Listener (Spring 1997) - the company's phone number in NY was given as Don Garber (718)625-7353 - don't know if this is still current but it may be worth a punt :)

All the best - Andrew

Thanks for the number Andrew. I'll check it out (and since I'm alone at work maybe I'll do it now...:D )

A Fi amp is mentioned in this fun MSNBC article about flee-powered gear:
