I want to connect my SACD player to my computer to copy the SACD layer to my hard drive, where I can load it to Cool Edit Pro. I have a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card. Can anyone offer me any advice for this project?
Also, what resolution can I record in? I don't think the Santa Cruz is a 24 bit card. Or is it? Do I have to keep it at 16/44?
Any help would be appreciated.
Chris, I don't believe that the SACD layer is copiable, only the CD layer.

Using the Santa Cruz card, Crystal chipset, if you plan on making a Redbook CD out of your coversion, your highest sample rate would be 48khz with a 18 bit conversion on the card. (So, no it's not 24 bit) If I were you, I would sample the stream at normal 16/44.1 using either the sound editing package it comes with, or Cool Edit Pro 1.2.
Using higher sample rates, IMHO, are fine if you intend on listening that way (DVD-R). Downsampling is just another way to work the same project into reshaping the output, after you've captured it. To me, that's a waste of time.... Good luck!

I know it's not digitally copyable, but I'm going to copy using the analog outs.

Sckott, I have used that Sant Cruz card for two years now, and find that it's resampling to 44.1kHz is a transparent as can be. In fact, it was rated as having the best sample rate conversion.
I record at 44.1 with it.

I've used my card (bought on Grant's advice, actually) for about six or seven months, and I agree with Grant's remarks above.

I've used my card (bought on Grant's and Gardo's advice) for a few months now. Best thing I got for my computer in a long time. For the price you can't go wrong.
