Forum pal Captain Groovy sent me some photos from last weekend's shoot for the new Wisely video, "Vanilla" featuring Alexander Gould of the Showtime series "Weeds" (and the voice of Nemo from "Finding Nemo") and model Cammy Kinney.
Jeff, when you get a moment, could you share some background on the video? The song "Vanilla" is one of my favorites from Wisely's new album and I was wondering about the concept for the accompanying video. Do you have any photos of Wisely from the shoot? Alexander looks like he was having a good time on the set. 14 years old and he gets to spend the day with Cammy Kinney. That's a tough shoot! :D Any inside stuff on the upcoming season on "Weeds?"
Also, thanks for having Alexander record a liner in his Nemo voice for our morning show. It sounds great! (Hi, this is Alexander Gould, "Shane" from Weeds and the voice of Nemo in "Finding Nemo." Mike and Mike are celebrating 10 years on Kiss 94.5. When they did their first show, I was four! Those guys are OLD!") He did a great job.

:agree: You can't go wrong with girls somewhere in the video.
Alexander seems happy to be there.

Hi, hi, hi - sure. Thanks!
It's been a crazy-busy shoot - 3 solid days - Alexander especially was a real champ.
I'll post anything anybody is curious about in the coming days - I've been off the forum for the most part the past week because of this... which explains the lack of Randy Newman threads! :D
Briefly, the video is about young Alexander who shows up to class ten minutes early every day because he's in love with his teacher, so he day dreams about her - it's all cute and innocent.
Way more special effects than I wanted are being worked on, but it'll be worth it I hope!
Plus, I enjoyed the smoothie from Smoothie King. I just think I almost sneezed or something in this pic!
Stay tuned and thanks to anyone reading this!

Some great photos, Jeff. Any idea how long before the video for "Vanilla" is edited and ready to go?

I should have a rough cut in about a week and a half... there are some serious special effects shots that will take several weeks - Showtime would like this done by the first week of April so they can promote it when they relaunch their "Weeds" site...
It's nerve wracking and fun!

Some cool shots, Jeff. I like Wisely's "Pepper"-ish jacket. When this video is ready to go, could you post a link so we can check it out?

Of course! Working on big marketing schemes with some major companies - hopefully it will be everywhere.
Just thought the forum may enjoy a running making-of as it comes along... we'll see by the thread checkout count! :)

Great to meet everyone here... this is Wisely. Jeff aka Capt. Groovy is holding my hand for this first missive... which for some strange reason gives me a feeling similar to the one I had in the men's restroom, as a young child, on the ZZTop Degella tour, at the Met Sports Ctr when all the urinals were backed up and the lines were out the door and you had to piss, while standing in piss, while hundreds of stoners watched you clinch your butt cheeks and waggle off yer weenie. It was actually a pleasure... and so here we are.
The video CG directed is going to be a great watch/listen... ambition knows no companions when CG is involved. Hell, my costume alone might be worth the price of the vinyl... hint hint!
Best to you all... BTW, playin TN, VA, FL, TX, OH, KY, including SxSW between March 4 & 16. Hope to see you on the road.

Wonderful, Mr. Wisely - you are now allowed to unchain yourself and come up from the basement.

Thanks for the tour date info. I might try to make it out to Melbourne, FL. I notice the opening act is Ghostbeat, led by Bryan, who introduced me to Wisely back in my college days.
Also, Jeff was kind enough to let me include the previous video, "Through Any Window" in the music video category of the Sunscreen Film Festival, of which I am the programming director. We're going on March 19-22 down in St. Petersburg, FL.

Welcome to SH Forums, Wisely. It is an honor to have you here with us!
Can't wait to hear the vinyl edition of your album mastered by Steve and Kevin. Every song on that record is amazing (currently listening to Ella as I write this) and it will be quite a treat to have it on warm, beautiful vinyl.
By the way, love your picture and the new color scheme for the new album. Is that a preview of the vinyl album cover?
People are still talking about the concert you performed here last month.
Looking forward to having you back this summer!

Welcome Wisley!!
Enjoyed the show in Seattle, but next time I would like to hear On My Way!! Just one of the many great songs on the new CD (and vinyl soon). Yeah, I know it sounds better with the full band...so bring them up too.
Hope you enjoyed the time at home. Be safe on the next jaunt in March and come back to Seattle when you can.
On topic - yes, those pants are worth the price of admission and the vinyl too. :D
