It's a week until the Oscars, and I'm interested to see everyone's predictions for it. Don't feel you have to have one for every category, but list as many as you can. If you feel the need to polemicize about the event, please do so elsewhere. This thread is simply about predictions.
I'm still working on mine, so I may not check back until I'm done.
Thanks!

I predict there will be a montage. Stewart will superimpose himself into some movie clip. All the jokes written by Bruce Vilanche will bomb because they don't sound like they should come from the mouths of their presenters.
And just like every year, no matter how much the broadcast runs overtime, the skits fall flat, and bold statements just go over the audience's head...the show will still get nominated for an Emmy...
...which is unfair, because the Emmy broadcasts never get nominated for an Oscar...!

I specifically asked for this kind of reaction to go in other threads. This is just for award predictions.

Okay, fair point. Let me rephrase it --
Please post your Award Predictions. Anyone wishing to polemicize, like Dillydipper did above, please start your own thread and do so there. Thanks.
Frankly, I don't care if you hate it. It's a glitz-fest, some will hate the jokes, it will run too long. We already know that.

All right, if we want to be prickly here, perhaps you should know that this thread was already welcoming predictions. I'd already posted a pick or two there myself.

That thread is really more along the lines of talk about the announcements, I just want to focus on our predictions, and not get bogged down in commenting on the show itself. I'm sure there will be a new thread afterward for that.
I'm not trying to be prickly, but I did ask for polemicizing to taken elsewhere.

Agree with your picks except I think Ruby Dee will be the sentimental fav for Best Supporting Actress.
I'm also picking Michael Clayton for Best Original Screenplay and think Christie will win as well.
my predictions for what they are worth:

What's interesting is that the screenplay (particularly if you read the book) for "The Diving Bell & The Butterfly" is a brilliant example of taking something so well captured in one medium and translating it to another.

I think that's my one pick for the obligatory upset.

As promised, here is my list of predictions -- not totally based on my own preferences, but rather my take on how Hollywood votes.
Cinematography -- No Country For Old Men (NCFOM) Roger Deakins
Costumes -- Atonement
Editing -- NCFOM
Music (Score) -- Atonement
Music (Song) -- Falling Slowly from Once
Visual Effects -- Golden Compass

Original Screenplay -- Juno
Supporting Actress -- Cate Blanchett
Supporting Actor -- Hal Holbrook (an upset ala Alan Arkin)
Best Actress -- Julie Christie (another 'body of work' award)
Best Actor -- Daniel Day Lewis (anything else would be one of the biggest upsets of all time!)
Best Director -- Joel & Ethan Coen
Best Picture -- No Country For Old Men

Daniel Day Lewis deserves best actor.
I think it's a terrible oversight that Sean Penn and Into The Wild were ignored as I thought it was 2007's Best Film
I know I'm in the minority but I though "No Country For Old Men" was one of the most overrated films I've ever gone to see after reading many good reviews.

Regrettably this won’t have online coverage like it did with backstage only, I think it was the 2005 Oscars, looks like Sky scummy Sky UK is covering it, oh, well there is always the webpage at A.M.P.A.S.® to check up on the shows proceedings.
