I spotted a "40th Anniversary edition" of The Graduate in Walmart yesterday.

I was tempted to buy it - but I wanted to check the internet first to see if it was an anamorphic transfer.

imdb.com has scarce details - but I was able to find confirmation in another place that the DVD transfer is indeed anamorphic.

DTS option for audio - but reviews are not glowing... the dolby 5.1 never sounded correct on the older dvd - so I'm not sure I care about this option

It comes with a 4 song CD of Simon and Garfunkel songs used in the movie.

There is also two commentary tracks. One by Dustin Hoffman and Katherine Ross and other by Mike Nicols interviewed by Stephen Soderbergh. I believe both commentary tracks are new.

I own the Criterion laserdisc version with the commentary by the USC (or UCLA?) film professor. That's a little cold and detached but offers an amazing amount of insight - specifically regarding wardrobe and other technical decisions made by the director.

I also have a DVD version that I purchased back around 1999. My first DVD actually. I had swore I would stay on the sidelines until The Graduate was released. The day I saw it in the store is also the day I bought a DVD player.

I suspect a Blu-Ray version is about to be released. I couldn't find any mention of it anywhere on the net (except for a "release date TBD").

I've seen the movie multiple times on HDNET... I'm not sure its going to look spectacular on Blu-Ray... but if it comes out, I might be inclined to buy a player :-)

Anyone pick the new version up yet?
