I am starting to build a new system. Since I don't live very close to any high end shops I am looking for some help. Does anyone have any experience with Vandersteen 2c (2ce's)? I am also looking toward getting an integrated amp--something like a Creek, Marsh or Rogue. Thanks for the help

The 2ce Signature is wonderful. I had the older 2ce which I though was very good 10 years ago but due to circumstances beyond my control I was forced to sell them. My wife thought they were ugly. I traded them for a speaker that was 3 times the money which she loved. She didn't care what they sounded like just what they looked like. I know someone here that purchased a pair just a few months ago and he is still sleeping in the doghouse. The winters are really cold here in Canada. Just something to consider when you are purchasing them.  :D

Thanks for the feedback. I was wondering what type of amplification (tube, solid state) you have heard w/the Vandersteens. Fortunately if I get thrown into the doghouse winters here in California ( I actually live only about 45 miles south of town where Vandersteens are produced) I won't be that cold:laugh:

I've had 2ci's for many years and have driven them with a Harman Kardon solid state receiver, a Fisher 500C, and now the B&K Ref 7250 amp. The 2ce was an upgrade to the 2ci but I don't think that the changes made the speakers any more difficult to drive. I think the 2ci's have sounded decent regardless of what I have used to drive them. Their sound has definitely improved as I have upgraded other parts of my system, aand I think they really like extra power of the B&K amp, but even with fairly inexpensive electronics I found the Vandys pleasant to listen to.

Hi, Sprocket!
I had Vandy 2C's and liked the combination of a tube preamp, like the Audible Illusions, (probably near you if they are still around), or a Balanced Audio Technology unit with high current solid-state amps, ( Krell, Bryston, and yes, BK).
The bottom line is that the Vandersteen vintage you are considering is a great sounding speaker. I happened to givel mine to my middle kid when he was building a system and I bought some Magneplaners, ( which I love ), to replace them. I could do either. No problemo.
