Hi Steve,

Being a huge GuessWho fan... I have really been dissatisfied with the sound quality of the albums that have come out. Even the new remasters on Budda are kind of muddy. I read elsewhere on here that you worked with the tapes or you said that they were bad. True? What was wrong with them? I thought RCA was meticulous in archiving all the tapes they have but I guess that doesn't effect the quality of the tapes. Thanks, Bob

I'm afraid that "Rockin'" sounds the way it is, and although I own an original Dynaflex pressing (wow, call THAT a correct use of phrase!) that also sounds dead and lifeless.

And "Rockin' is my favorite GH title, bar none.

I didn't think the Budda or the UK RCA of American Woman sounded badly. The Canadian RCA of "Share The Land" is very good, as is mostly every other Canadian RCA of the Guess Who.
Ah, I should pull out my "Live at the Paramount" CD! Great performance.

The only thing I really like about Paramount is that it contains bonus tracks. I think it sounds better than the origiinal but still Muddy. By the way, if you play it through Dolby Pro Logic, you get kind of a cool effect like it is Dolby surround.

The most recent greatest hits comp sounds good to me. I play it in my car all the time! Little to much hiss on the early tracks, but it sounds pretty tight.

Try playing it through Dolby Pro Logic II, you'll really be impressed.
