Anyone know what he was working on after Disney until Hanna-Barbara? 16 years in there...

Thanks!

I remember seeing Hicks Lokey's name on numerous Hanna-Barbera TV cartoons, but he really seems to have vanished completely from the animation world between 1941 and 1958. Even Alberto Beccattini's website with detailed chronologies on every important classic animator doesn't have any entry for that period. Maybe he was working on industrial films or commercials after WWII? One interesting item I discovered: he was very active in the animation union during the late 30s and early 40s, so I guess he was one of the participants of the infamous Disney strike in 1941.

Have you tried to contact Jerry Beck, or Steve Worth from ASIFA Hollywood Animation Archive? Also, try to get in touch with Mark Mayerson, a very knowledgeable animation historian who might be able to help. Here's the URL for his blog:

Good luck, and if you find out anything more, please post it here.

Thanks very much; I'll try those contacts you mentioned.

I was just curious as to what happened to the guy for all of those years and what made him get back in to commercial animation all of a sudden like that. Maybe he was "recruited" by Joe and Bill?

Thanks again.

Alberto's website is excellent, it was great to see my uncle Dave mentioned. And to learn more about him than I already knew, I didn't know he worked on Crusader Rabbit. Thanks for the post!
