PSQ: possibly stupid question, asked at the only site I thought might have an answer (and where that answer wouldn't be insulting!) :)
I just bought a new DVD player last night, a Sony NS77, to replace an older Sony that died over the weekend. I had thought I was using the s-video input on our 7 year old RCA 32" TV but it turns out that while it was plugged in, it had never actually been working - the picture was coming via the component cable. It still does not work, and trying a brand new s-video cable doesn't change anything.
As an older TV, I have limited means to get video in to the TV. Cable is going in via the cable connection and the DVD is sharing, through y-splitters, the component inputs with a Wii. The s-video should get a higher quality picture, correct? Why would I not be able to use this? Am I missing something, or is the input on our TV broken and has been so since we got it back in Dec. 2000?
