How to rip/merge a DVD into a single file.

I need to rip a DVD or a production I made into a single file in order to use a program to edit it, how can I get this but keeping all the original quality and audio?

On Mac OS X, "MacTheRipper" does a fine job of extracting multiple chapters as a single file.

There are many. Just Google "DVD Ripper". Some might even be freeware.
