Did anyone else catch the first episode last night? It reruns tonight at 7, followed by a new episode at 9.
Ya know, it was surprisingly entertaining. I actually got sucked into it, which doesn't happen often with television. Good cast, and I like the way they played around with the story.
Your thoughts?

I missed the second half, but what I saw was startlingly imaginative. A complete reworking of all the elements from the the original story. Very, very well done. And I've always been a fan of Zoe.

I tolerated an hour's worth, and then had to move on. I thought it was just awful. Sorry.

You're not alone. IMDB is filled with people ranting about it.

Lost interest after about 30mins.

The twister scene sucked. They really blew a good chance to do something great. The original nailed it. It was very surreal. I was all for a reworking, but it just didn't work for me. Blah

I watched last night's episode, but I wasn't terribly impressed. I may peek in at some point tonight, but I'll mostly be sticking to the football game on ESPN.

I don't get it. What were people expecting, another Wizard of Oz? There's no way to top the Judy Garland version. I thought this was a very interesting take on it and I'm standing by that.

I agree, it kept my interest for two nights now.

There were elements of a nice reworking at play here, and I certainly wasn't hoping for anything close to a strict remake, but it was brought down by clumsy pacing and mediocre performances, IMHO.

It is repulsive, yet I cannot look away.

It's not great, but I find it pretty entertaining and better than it had to be. There are some nicely sly references to the original, and Dorothy does have a lot more spunk this time around.
For me, though, Askadelia the wicked witch is miscast and not very well thought out. I keep thinking "model turned actress." She could have been a more complex and seductively evil character. I do like it when the "flying monkeys" shoot out of her..um..bodice. Wouldn't want that to happen at the wrong time.

I never watch TV stuff but got sucked into this. It was much better that I thought. I really don't know what people expect, but its not supposed to be The Wizard of OZ redux. In a very loose sense its a sequel that pays homage to the original story/movie and for the most part was well done. It was definitely too long, should have been 3 or 4 hours tops.
