Probably an impossible task, but I've been taping a lot of American and Foreign films onto my Hard drive from the Independent Film Channel, Sundance, Encore and other cable stations. There are a lot of hidden gems out there.

"The Deep End" is a Film Noir Thriller that comes to mind. What are some of your recs. ?

The Daytrippers - Character driven comedy, family takes a road trip into NYC to investigate if oldest daughter's husband is cheating.
Hard Eight - First film from director of 'Boogie Nights.' Less flashy character drama set in Reno with Gwenyth Paltrow, John C. Reilly and Samuel L. Jackson.
In the Company of Men - Effective, character-driven indie investigating how men interact with women.
The Matador - Enjoyed this recent one with Pierce Brosnan as a faltering hitman who befriends a troubled guy on a business trip (Greg Kinnear). Has a quirky sense of character and style. Both leads are great.
The Oh In Ohio - Quirky, but not broad comedy with Parker Posey as a housewife whose life goes through some changes as she learns to experience pleasure. The always-amusing Paul Rudd plays her husband.
Pieces of April - Estranged daughter, April (Katie Holmes), invites the family up to her NYC apartment for Thanksgiving dinner, assuming she can actually finish making it. Great cast.
Psycho Beach Party - Extremely campy spoof of the beach party genre, with a killer on the loose. Lauren Ambrose (the daughter on 'Six Feet Under') rocks the house in this one.
Roger Dodger - A womanizer confronts the realities of his lifestyle as his nephew enlists him to explain the mysteries of women. Campbell Scott is electric as the main character.
Spellbound - Fun and compelling documentary on spelling bees.
The Tao of Steve - Low-key romantic comedy with Donal Logue (of TVs 'Grounded For Life' and 'The Knights of Prosperity') as a guy whose words of wisdom all evoke Steve McQueen.
Virtual Sexuality - British comedy where a young woman ends up transforming into her ideal male. If Americans had made this, it would be much more raunchy - this version is actually kind of sweet.

Scorpio Rising

I saw that film at the "Pacific Film Archives" in Berkeley in 1976. Kenneth Anger himself was there to host and discuss the film.

Very cool, Tone. I dig the use of music. And I bet the new DVD is beautiful. Too bad I don't have any interest in Anger's more occultic films.

I never thought they'd clear the music for DVD. The Presley estate approved of this use of 'Devil in Disguise'???

I know I'm a film geek, because I've seen almost of the films mentioned so far.

I've got one...Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me with the late Adrienne Shelley.

The original "Swept Away" with Giannini and Melato. Its mixture of sexual politics ,class warfare, and a great soundtrack by Piccioni make for a "controversial classic".Madonna's version was milquetoast, the edge was taken off the story and it had none of the magic of the original.

I have a couple of these in my collection oddly enough.I love cult horror films. There is the MacDaddy of all those films. And I wonder how many on this board have seen the original Wicker Man(which is arguably the greatest horror/thriller/musical of all time)?

I second this but I guess some have seen it.

This movie seems to offend a lot of people from different points of view.

'Session 9' is a great movie about a cleaning crew that goes into an abandoned mental hospital to clean up asbestos.
Part horror, part psychological thriller. Very good.

I've got one...Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me with the late Adrienne Shelley.I need to put that one on my list!
INTERSTATE 60 (http://imdb.com/title/tt0165832/)There are some good moments with Chris Cooper and Gary Oldman in that one, but I was slightly disappointed being that it came from the co-writer of 'Back to the Future,' one of my favorite films ever.
