1-All my life I've enjoyed watching movies on televisions with less than realistic resolution & DVD's really look nice to me. I don't think I'm going to like a movie more or less by watching it on Blu-Ray or HD & on a Hi-Res TV. Therefore, I will not be voluntarily sucked into upgrading my system or replacing the (standard) DVD collection I enjoy so much right now.

2-Why are some so called "Special Edition" DVD's lacking compared to their original DVD releases & with what is available to make them what they should & could be-"Special Editions"?

3-If hollywood has run dry of movie ideas, it's not the time for sequels, prequels & remakes. It is a time for new blood. Get some young people in there with fresh ideas. That's when you'll see "new" movies!

4-Entertainment industry rules of praise & awards must be changed! There should be an eligibility period of exactly one year for movies, television & music. After the final day of this period is reached, a six month period must also pass. During the six month period, all voters should be required to watch or hear everything nominated & after that time the ballots can be voted on. Why? because a lot of great entertainment is overlooked because of what is new at the time. During the extra six months the voter's memories are refreshed & all nominees will have an equal chance to win.

Do you have an HDTV? How big is your TV? IMO, the difference between HD and DVD is pretty astounding. Even more so if we are talking about a really large TV.

I use my PC as a television right now. I have a friend who has a HD projection TV & I've seen the various HD TV's, HD DVD setups & Blu Ray setups in stores. They look very nice but it still isn't enough to convince me. I'm sure there will be a time when I will switch over but that will be when the format wars are over, the prices drop & my DVD player & TV no longer work. Last night I watched "Spider-Man 3" on a standard DVD & I enjoyed it.If I had watched it on HD or Blu Ray it wouldn't have mattered to me. I watch movies & enjoy them. I don't analyze them. I understand those of you who are into getting the best possible presentation & I can appreciate that. I'm just not one of those people. Also, when I go into a Best Buy & see the the price of the new HD & Blu Ray DVD's, I think to myself for that price I can get the movie I want on standard DVD & a budget priced DVD as well.

ICAM. In fact, I like watching my friend's HDTV less than I do my own 27" regular TV. It's too bright, too revealing. I get TMI.

I don't mind if other people like these things, but please, everybody stop telling me I'm "not really seeing it" if it's not in HD.

Chacun, folks.

I agree that the immediate present overwhelms taste and judgment, or that yes, a cooling off period would make opinions and awards about best movie of the year more meaningful.
