View Full Version : Iomega Predator - CloneCD problem

Hi all,

In my quest to own and try every (lol!) CD burner on the market, I've run into a slight snag. I managed to pick up an older Iomega Predator USB drive and have a strange problem with CloneCD software.

With every other program, the drive rips and burns perfectly. However, when using Clone, the program rips fine (I listened to the image with a virtual device) Yet, during burning it produces audible stutters on the final CD. Even more bizarre, it ALWAYS occurs at the 39 second mark of the first track (as well as in other spots). My "real" CD players will play through the errors fine (only showing a visual stutter on the CD time counter display). But my car unit, a portable unit, and a computer CD Rom drive will always choke on it -- either skipping or stopping completely during the offending spots.

Again, all other programs work fine, and the CDClone site says the drive is supposed to be compatible. I know that Clone reads raw sectors but, as noted, the rip itself is fine. Something's happening during the burning process. I've tried different blank media, upped the buffer settings to the max, used different source discs, burned at every speed imaginable, and even switched versions of the program. No dice. I've used other drives with this program -- never with any problems

Any suggestions? This is TOTALLY driving me crazy!
