Hi, there is a guy locally who is selling his Stello DA220 MKII DAC for a good price . I've been agonizing the last couple of days if I should get it and then sell my Benchmark DAC1 which I've had for a year.

I don't really have any complaints with the DAC1, but sometimes you come across as what seems like a good deal and it's hard to make up you mind thinking "should I or shouldn't I". They have slightly different feature sets and the build is off course very different.

So should I or shouldn't I?

Thanks,

Hi Sanjay

If you can get it before selling the Benchmark then it can't hurt to try it out. If you don't like it sell it on and keep the DAC-1.

Incidentally, if you can get a dCS Elgar to try then I can't recommend it highly enough - I don't think I'll ever need to upgrade again :)

I've heard they are great sounding units. Disappointing that it doesn't have a headphone out though.

The only thing to do is see if you can listen to it at home-perhaps you could leave the money as a deposit for a week. But to be honest the Benchmark is extraordinarily tough to beat. I'd probably just be happy with it.
