That's the Avant Garde Trio with the bass horns. Electronics looks like Esoteric. The transport and dac are definitely Esoteric. Either the P01 D01 or P03 D03. Even the monoblocs look like Esoteric to me. The masterclock is also Esoteric

That would be my guess too, but it would take a real idiot to put them directly behind the equipment.

It's pretty funny that you aren't exactly sure what they are, but you would call him an idiot for putting them in their proper place. You might want to check out the German manufacturer and then get back to the discussion. I've never seen them set up any other way. BTW, they are bass horns.

Still, I wouldn't put them behind my components. How much are those speakers, $100,000 or more? I wonder how many pairs they sell in a year? My guess is 5 or 6, certainly less than 10.

I heard them many of times. Very detail and quite resolving, but somewhat hard sounding. Also, the subs(on the boomy side) and trios doesn't quite work cohesively. Not my cup of tea.

They actually sold quite a bid of them, mostly to Asian countries.

Putting any speakers in a place where they have physical effects on the equipment is not a proper placement. Either the "bass horns" or the equipment should be moved. I would call it "common sense".

Don't assume too much. I heard the Avantgarde Trios at the HE 2004 show and they sounded horrible, even in a decent room.
