I'm on the way to the Creative board to try and find an answer, but it couldn't hurt to ask here...
Replacing my stolen Zen Micro 5g player with later-model Zen Micro 6g model. I already had the drivers from the older one on my computer (along with managing software) from earlier Installation CD. Plugged the new player into the computer to charge-up the battery, I noticed it charged but computer not recognize the player as a new hard-drive like the old one was. So, I figured I had to re-install the Installation CD, and used the new one.
Unfortunately, I can only get as far as "please select the folder you want the files in". I click on the Creative folder, and it just sits there. No continuing, just asking again for me to designate the destination of the files.
Now, I suppose I could uninstall the older stuff...but, would that do anything to the information I have from the old player? Particularly my playlists, and tag information on my mp3's?

Well, I just went through Customer Service Hell trying to get my new Zen Micro 6g working. It wouldn't get recognized by Creative's own browser/organizer program, which you should be able to use to drag-n-drop a recording from your computer to the player (how can you drag it there, if it doesn't see your player!).
Six(!) calls to Customer Service yielded six eaqually-confident, "simple" fixes for the problem, none of them working. What hurt the most, is each operator felt like his/her solution was "the" answer, and the other operators were screwy. Way to bolster confidence in your company, kids!
I have easily re-booted my computer 40 times in the past two days, downloaded Windows Media Player 11 three times, installed it 5 times, and loaded-up the Installation disc 5 times (yes, then would be told to delete it, and "try this..."). I have had the automatic registration program freeze my desktop up 4 times, and become overly intimate with editing my register, checking and re-checking the Device Manager, and opening that damn Creative organizer/browser scores of times.
And, you know what I fear the most? Returning the player to Creative, and then getting the same player back in the mail, with a note from some tech who wasn't paying attention...telling me there's nothing wrong with it!

Hmmm. Wish I had a solution. It's been ages since I used my NOMAD Jukebox 3 (40GB) on a PC, but I remember Creative's software always gave me headaches.
I'm a Mac user now, and there's a free 3rd party app (XNJB) that lets me use the Jukebox with my Mac, so I'm a pretty happy camper. Unfortunately, I can only use the USB connection. The firewire only works on a PC. :(
The player itself is excellent - been using it for many years now.
Best of luck with your problem! Hopefully someone here has some ideas.

Does your computer recognize the creative player? I went through a nightmare of a time trying to install my creative zen 30GB. I might still have the zip file that I found burried in a forum somewhere that finally fixed my problem. I also had to buy an ac adaptor to charge the player. Let me know if your computer is recognizing the player.

try this.
the name of the file was fixup.zip that finally fixed my nightmare. I still have the file on my computer, but I found the above link by googling fixup.zip. Good luck.

Yeah, the computer recognized the player...but the player's own software ON the computer doesn't see it!
Attempted one more fix before sending it back...there's updated MediaScource Organizer program on their support site. Since I have dial-up, it actually took me ALL NIGHT to download it! When I finally got it...the Install Wizard froze up!
Thinking it might just be a corrupted download, I had a friend with broadband download it and burn me a CD-R. I bring THAT home...and it still freezes. So, I called Customer Service for the 7th time  and a nice Japanese woman with a fake name tells me I need to uninstall my OLD MediaSource Organizer and that will DEFINITELY get it to work. So, I do, and no, it doesn't, and I call Customer Service for the 8th time, and actually get the same tech lady.
I tell her the bad news, she tells me to re-boot and do it again while on the phone with her, and of course it freezes which shocks and amazes her, and after some hemming and hawing, she tells me I'll have to uninstall EVERY Creative software on my PC already, then go back to the Updates website and download not just the one program, but Update Application #5, #4, #3 & #2...in that order.
I just didn't have the heart to tell her...#5 was the one that's been freezing-up, so how would I ever get around to installing the other 3?

I have the Zen Ultra with 60GB I bought a few years ago. This player is large compared to an iPod. How does the size of the current 60GB Zen compare with an iPod of the same storage?

This dumb saga is over. I finally got through to a supervisor, whose name (apparently) was "Sam". After telling the story again - which of course, gets longer with every service call - he had me install one of the other plugins from the download page. If you were to read the description from the website, you would never have an idea that this plugin would be relevant to this problem. Works fine now.
Congratulations, Creative: you just made my first eight tech operators irrelevant. What's worse, since the guy who solved the problem for me was a Supervisor...that means you made the "Supervisor"'s position irrelevant, as well.
