I think this may be the ultimate $300 computer -> speakers "conversion". This is supposed to be an amazing DAC for the price, everybody raves:

It connects to a computer via USB, converts to I2S, converts to EIAJ, and feeds the DAC. From what I understand, not making an SPDIF conversion is a big plus.

Next I'm thinking I'll solder the Monica's outputs straight to the inputs of this tube kit:

No RCA output plugs, no RCA cables, no RCA input plugs. No loss, no cost. I'll fashion a simple 4-sided backless MDF box to house the two devices and run in a USB cable and two power cables, and out a pair of speaker wires. They will be powered up all the time and I'll control the system's volume via the computer.

What do you think?

this sounds very interesting - I'd have tacked on Charlize instead.

Too bad Yeo doesn't do Equibit, or the signal could stay digital all the way
